Mumbai, Jun 27 (Reporter) Mumbai Police have arrested the driver of a school bus that crashed into the railing on the J J flyover in South Mumbai on Wednesday, causing injuries to a 12-year-old student and the vehicle cleaner. The injured student, identified as Abdullah Shaikh, is said to be stable in J J Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment along with bus cleaner Surya Kumar. Abdullah Shaikh, a Class 7 student, underwent a CT scan this morning, and he is out of danger, said a doctor attending to him at JJ Hospital. Bus driver Lalu Kumar Santu (24 years old) was arrested for negligent driving, police said. Santu has been charged under Sections 279 and 388 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 183 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. He was produced before a local court in Mazgaon, which remanded him to judicial custody for three days, police sub-inspector Akshay Gaddade of Pydhonie Police Station said. The accident occurred yesterday afternoon when the driver reportedly tried to overtake another vehicle and lost control. There were 23 students in bus No. MH-46-AH-0094 that met with the accident, but only Abdullah was injured. Abdullah Shaikh is a resident of the Sewree area in south-central Mumbai. His father, Gulzar Shaikh, who runs a garment business, told UNI that Abdullah sustained a head injury, but his condition is improving. He expressed his unhappiness over the wrong media reports about the health condition of his son.
