Shillong, Jan 6 (Reporter) President Droupadi Murmu will be inaugurating the 5th Meghalaya Games at Tura in West Garo Hills district on January 15, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Saturday. This will be Murmu’s maiden visit to the Meghalaya after assuming office. The President would also visit Meghalaya’s state capital Shillong on January 16 to lay the foundation stone for the Shillong Ropeway project. Chief Minister Sangma said President Murmu’s presence at the Games will be a “great encouragement for the youth of our state.” Over 3,000 athletes will be competing across 22 disciplines in the 2024 edition of the Games.
