Patna, Apr. 2 (Reporter) Appealing to the Muslims to have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former union minister, and Senior BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said that the strength of Muslims in Parliament cannot guarantee their welfare. Replying to the queries about the inadequate representation of Muslims in tickets distributed by the BJP for Lok Sabha polls, Hussain told newspersons here on Tuesday that their higher strength in Parliament is no guarantee of their welfare. Trying to downplay the issue, Hussain said that even after the highest representation of Muslims in Lok Sabha and the Union cabinet led by the then prime minister P V Narasimha Rao, the Babri Masjid was razed. Hussain appealed to the minority community to have faith in Modi who is working on the "sabka saath sabka vikas" mission. Speaking about the candidature of Muslims in the Lok Sabha, he said the BJP has fielded a Muslim academician from Calicut in Kerala and another member of the community was likely to get the opportunity to contest from Lakshadweep. He further said that the BJP was also supporting a Muslim candidate of NDA in Bihar. When asked about Muslim representation being less than proportionate in BJP in particular and NDA in general, Hussain categorically stated that it is not a ration shop where quotas can be fixed. Appealing to the community to vote for BJP Hussain said that every community including the Muslims got benefits of an Ayushman card, free food grain facility, free COVID vaccination, and other schemes of the Narendra Modi government and claimed that the Muslim community would vote for BJP across the country. The BJP leader said that his party was contesting only 17 seats in Bihar and it was impossible to give tickets to the candidates of every caste and religion. He said the political party fields the candidates who can win the election. Hussain, who was the lone muslim MP from Kishanganj in 1990s ruled out any injustice done to him by the party saying that he had been MP for six times and was the youngest minister in the Union government. The BJP leader said that he also served the state as a minister in the Bihar government. Hussain, a national spokesperson said that the party has given him the opportunity to address the media. Describing himself as a committed and dedicated worker of BJP, Hussain said the party has given so much to all and any tirade against the party just because it gave the opportunity to someone else is highly deplorable. The BJP leader maintained that the party's central leadership would decide his fate and added that at the instructions of Prime Minister Modi he was working in Bihar. For him the party is larger than any person and claimed that the NDA would win all 40 seats in Bihar...////...
