Lucknow, Apr 17 (Reporter) Inspired by the successful rejuvenation of Kashi and Ayodhya, the government is now focused on giving Naimisharanya, the ancient pilgrimage site steeped in spiritual legacy on the banks of the Gomti river, a similar revival, official sources said here on Thursday. Sources said that along with the beautification of ghats and the widening of roads, a Vedic City is also being developed here. "Major temples such as Lalita Devi and Bhuteshwarnath and other important locations associated with sages, saints and ancient legends, are being equipped with modern infrastructure while preserving their traditional essence," they said. Sources said that development is being carried out in harmony with the sentiments of local saints, maintaining a balance between modernity and heritage."Connectivity is also receiving a major boost. Naimisharanya is now witnessing a new era of development under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath," they said. It may be noted that on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti in 2023, Yogi visited Naimisharanya and met with local saints. He assured ample funding for its holistic development and expressed his vision to transform it into a major spiritual and tourism hub. To ensure systematic development, the government set up the Naimisharanya Tirth Parishad. "Under this initiative, a new ghat is being constructed between Rajghat and Dashashwamedh Ghat, whereas several existing ghats are being renovated and beautified, some of which are already complete, with others progressing rapidly," they said. Sources said that the CM firmly believes that as the number of devotees and tourists increases in Ayodhya, interest in Naimisharanya will also rise. "Being situated close to Lucknow and holding immense significance for Sanatan Dharma followers, this site's development was long overdue," they said. Sources said that meanwhile, a heliport, built at a cost of Rs 9 crore near Thakurnagar Rudravart Dham Marg, is ready to operate. "It can accommodate three helicopters at a time and will soon begin offering services, enhancing air connectivity with key cities like Lucknow, Ayodhya and Varanasi. Rail and road networks are also being upgraded to improve access," they said. Located in Sitapur district, Naimisharanya holds a timeless place in Hindu mythology. It is believed to be the site where the Mahapuranas were written and where the story of Satyanarayan was first recited. It is also associated with the Ramayana, where Lord Shri Ram conducted the Ashwamedha Yagya, and with the Mahabharata, where Yudhishthira and Arjuna are said to have visited.
