Patna, Sep 20(Reporter) Congress on Friday alleged that the Narendra Modi government had failed on all fronts and attempts were even being made to subvert the provisions mandated by the constitution. Bihar in-charge of Congress and senior party leader Mohan Prakash told media persons here that the Narendra Modi government had failed on all fronts and even the constitution was not protected as it used to be during the Congress regime at the Centre. One nation-one election was just a gimmick and the Election Commission was being used as a tool to bypass the verdict of the Supreme Court that the spirit of the constitution could not be changed, he added. " Election Commission has refused to hold assembly elections in four states, saying it is not possible", Prakash said adding how the commission could ensure simultaneous elections of Lok Sabha, state assemblies, and local bodies across the country. It was almost impractical to implement the one nation one election concept in the country, he pointed out. Congress leader said that party leader Rahul Gandhi was the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha while in other countries, this post was considered an important one but Narendra Modi government had no such importance for Gandhi. BJP and leaders of its allies were making highly derogatory remarks against Gandhi but nothing was being done to check the same, he pointed out. " Gandhi could not be bowed by such action of BJP and its allies leaders", Prakash said adding that Congress would continue to raise the issues of public importance. Prices of petrol and diesel had decreased in the international market but its benefits were not being given to people of the country, he added. Congress leader said that prices of essential commodities had increased alarmingly as the government failed to check it causing great hardship to the common man.
