Bhubaneswar, Oct 2 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition and BJD President Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday urged party workers to expose the false promises and incompetence of the BJP government in the state.
Patnaik stated that the trust and love of the people are the BJD 's greatest assets, adding that the party will continue to serve the people. He emphasized that the party's workers will carry the message forward and expose the BJP's false promises made to come to power in the state.
Addressing party workers at the launch of the annual Jan Sampark Padayatra in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the BJD supremo launched a scathing attack on the Mohan Majhi government for renaming several schemes initiated by the BJD government.
"You can change the name, you can change the colour, but you cannot change history," the former Chief Minister remarked, adding that the people are well aware of everything.
The BJD President questioned whether people were receiving the 300 units of free electricity promised by the BJP and asked about the whereabouts of the Rs. 3,000 pension and Rs. 50,000 promised to the mothers and sisters of the state.
He accused the BJP of making false promises to win votes.
Patnaik further criticized the BJP for failing to control the prices of essential commodities, stating that the people have now realized the true face of the BJP and have lost faith and confidence in them.
The leader of opposition noted that women are not safe, even in police stations, and that government employees are also unsafe in Raj Bhawan.
He accused the BJP of winning elections by telling lies. "They can win elections by telling lies but cannot win the hearts of the people," the BJD President said.
Naveen claimed that, over the past 24 years, the Biju Janata Dal has worked for Odisha's development, citing visible improvements in education, health, infrastructure, investment, governance, and the empowerment of SCs, STs, women, youth, and farmers during this period.
Patnaik highlighted that under 24 years of BJD rule, Odisha has achieved economic stability, reducing poverty from 70 percent in 2000 to 10 percent in the state. Odisha's per capita income has increased and that the state is ahead of many other "double-engine" governments in the country, he added.
The BJD supremo affirmed that, whether in power or not, he would continue to serve the people of the state until his last breath.
He pointed out that in the 2024 election, while the BJP might have formed the government, but the BJD secured more votes than the BJP.
Patnaik concluded by saying that the BJD will remain in the hearts of the people and continue to do so in the future...////...
