Bhubaneswar, Dec 30 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has demanded immediate and adequate compensation for the farmers of Odisha who have been affected by unseasonal rain.
On Monday, Patnaik visited Ganjam and inspected the affected farmlands in Takarada of Sheragada, Podingi of Hinjili, Bargaon of Aska, Ambishikharpur of Kabisuryanagar, and Bhavagaon of Khallikote.
During his visit, farmers and women met him and shared their grievances. They complained that even after several days since the rain, no government official had conducted a field inspection.
The farmers expressed their anger, stating that if the government had provided advance warnings about the rain, the crops could have been saved. They also brought to the attention of the BJD supremo that the government had not adequately informed them about crop insurance.
Patnaik assured the farmers that he stands with them and will fight for their rights.
He reiterated that advance warnings about the rain could have prevented the loss of crops.
The farmers of Ganjam are in distress, with the unseasonal rain severely impacting their livelihoods.
Patnaik made a strong appeal to the government to provide immediate and adequate compensation to the affected farmers without delay.
