NEET exam centre, Imphal to be opened : Manipur CM

Imphal, August 1 (Reporter) Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed the House on Thursday that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG Centre, Imphal has been reinstated. It was recently cancelled by the centre. Biren informed that a total of 226 persons have been killed in the ongoing violence that started on May 3, 2023. He stated that altogether 146 victim families have been given financial aid of Rs10 lakh as assured by the State Government and an assessment is underway to identify the number of IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) who have died in relief camps from May 3, 2023 till date. He also added that a Cabinet Sub-Committee has been formed to ascertain the needs and necessities of the IDPs at the relief camps. The Chief Minister also urged the IDPs to inform him of any grievances or problems. Biren replying to a question said that there are 19 existing Fire service station in various Constituencies across the State including a fire service headquarters in Imphal and added that efforts are being made to open 10 more fire services stations in the State, for which the budget has been sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission. Replying to another question raised by Kangujam Ranjit, said that the process for direct recruitment of 2457 state forces out of the total of 3200 posts is underway and swift measures will be taken to begin the promotion process for vacant 3377 promotion quota posts. He also mentioned that there are 6268 MR, 9323 IRB, 14076 Police (Civil, Commando and Special Commando), 9169 VDF and 1818 Home Guard in the state. Education Minister, Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh said that the regular Registrar and other staff of Dhanamanjuri University have already been appointed and they are expected to join by next Monday. He also mentioned that the issues about the shortage of staff at the university will be resolved with the recent declaration of results of the 2021 DPC appointment of 121 Assistant Professor and 155 non-teaching staff.
