New Delhi, Sep 9 (Reporter) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed chargesheets against four accused in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case. The chargesheets were filed on Monday against Mussavir Hussain Shazib, Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taaha, Maaz Muneer Ahmed, and Muzammil Shareef under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act), Explosive Substances Act, and Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDLP) Act. All four were previously arrested and remain in judicial custody. The blast, which occurred on March 1 at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Brookfield, Bengaluru, injured nine people and caused extensive damage to the property. The NIA took over the investigation on March 3 and, in coordination with state police and other agencies, conducted several technical and field investigations. The investigators claimed that Shazib planted the bomb, and he, along with Taaha, had been on the run since 2020 following the bust of the Al-Hind module. They were apprehended in West Bengal 42 days after the blast. Both Shazib and Taaha, from Shivamogga District in Karnataka, were allegedly radicalised ISIS sympathisers and were involved in recruiting others to the ideology. Their accomplices, Maaz Muneer Ahmed and Muzammil Shareef, were among those radicalised. The police said the accused used fraudulently obtained Indian SIM cards, bank accounts, and identity documents from India and Bangladesh, some downloaded from the Dark Web. The NIA has claimed that Taaha was introduced by an ex-convict to Mohammed Shaheed Faisal, a handler linked to the LeT conspiracy case in Bengaluru. The group was allegedly financed through cryptocurrencies, which Taaha converted to fiat currency using Telegram-based platforms. The funds were used for various violent acts in Bengaluru, including a failed IED attack at the State BJP Office in Malleshwaram on January 22, 2024, the day of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya. Following the failed attempt, the accused planned and executed the Rameshwaram Café blast. Investigations are ongoing...////...
