Tiruchuirapalli (Tamil Nadu), June 30 (Reporter) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out simultaneous searches at multiple locations across Tamil Nadu, as part of its investigation into a case relating to the ‘Hizb-ut-Tahrir’ (HuT), an Islamic fundamentalist organization affiliated to ISIS, banned in many countries.
Official sources said the raids were conducted at places including Chennai, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Erode and Pudukottai.
The HuT Madurai module case was originally registered at Thideer Nagar Police Station in Madurai before being handed over to NIA in April 26, 2021.
Investigation revealed that the operatives of HuT, namely S. Bava Bahrudeen (41) alias ‘Mannai’ Bava of Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district, J. Ziyavudeen Baqavi (40) of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district and Mohammed Iqbal conspired with others to re-establish Islamic State and implement Sharia globally, including India.
The accused had organized closed door Bayans (meetings) in Madurai, Erode, Salem and Thanjavur districts in Tamil Nadu and created multiple accounts on various social media applications to upload posts intended to disclaim and disrupt the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.
They were engaged in radicalizing and recruiting gullible youth to establish Islamic State by overthrowing the Government of India. They had also conspired to establish new cells in various districts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala through social media platforms in order to spread the ideology of HuT...////...
