Nitish directs administration and police to act tough for maintaining law and order

Patna, Sept 21 (Reporter) According top most priority to the law and order, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said negligence will not be tolerated at any cost and asked the administration and police to act tough for maintaining it. Reviewing the law and order situation in a high level meeting here on Saturday, Kumar asked the authorities to take stern actions for controlling it. He directed the administration to remain cautious for disposing land related disputes and instructed for speedy completion of land survey and settlement to minimise the crime related to land disputes. He said that more than 60 percent murders were due to land disputes however it was declining and has gone down to 46.69 percent. With completion of the land survey and land settlement the crime related to land disputes would automatically decline. The chief minister warned of strict action against the police personnel neglecting their duties and asked to speed up investigation into the crimes and dispose of the cases within stipulated period so that the culprits should be punished. Outlining the important role of Police in maintaining law and order Kumar asked to fill up the all vacant posts at the earliest for convenience in carrying out the mission for maintenance of law and order. To increase the strength of police 2,29,139 posts have been approved under various categories, he said and informed that against the sanctioned posts 1,06,436 police personnel were appointed and asked to make appointments on the rest of the vacancies posts at the earliest. He also asked to fill the vacant posts in the police department reserved for the women according to 35 percent reservation given to them. The Chief Minister asked the police administration not to neglect patrolling and direct to increase the night patrolling .
