Nitish directs officials to look into assaults on two Bihari students in Bengal

Patna, Sep 27 (Reporter) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, taking serious note of two students of Bihar assaulted in West Bengal, directed the officials to remain in contact with their counterparts of neighbouring state to ensure action against the accused of the incident. Kumar directed the officials of the state government to talk to their counterparts in West Bengal to ensure proper investigation and action against the accused in the case related to assaults on two Bihari students in Siliguri. On his directive, Chief Secretary of Bihar talked to Chief Secretary of West Bengal and the Additional Director General (Law and Order) of Bihar Police wrote a letter to his counterpart of the neighbouring state to ensure action against those involved in the incident. Officials of Bihar requested their counterparts in West Bengal for proper investigation and strict action against the accused. After senior officials of the Bihar government talked to their counterparts in West Bengal, two accused were arrested. Those arrested were identified as-- Rajat Bhattacharya and Girdhari Roy. Both had assaulted two students of Bihar who were in Siliguri to take competitive examinations for recruitment. RJD chief Lalu Prasad also talked to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, requesting her to take action against the accused of the incident. Senior leaders from Bihar including Union Ministers Giriraj Singh and Chirag Paswan also criticised West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for assaults on Bihari students there. It was a reflection of lawlessness in neighbouring state, both the leaders pointed out. Giriraj Singh posted a video on X, on Thursday showing assaults on two Bihari students in West Bengal by some persons in Siliguri. Rohingyas were being welcomed by Mamata Banerjee's government but students of Bihar were being assaulted, he had wondered in his video message if West Bengal is a state of India or a separate nation...////...
