Bhubaneswar, Dec 6 (Reporter) Opposition BJD and the Congress on Friday disrupted the proceedings of the house after Speaker Surama Padhy did not allow a debate on the admissibility of an adjournment motion, notice for which was given by the Congress on multi-purpose Polavaram Project, forcing the speaker to adjourn the house twice till 1600hrs. Due to the protest, the question hour was washed out and the house could not take up the zero hour and other business in the pre-lunch session. The problem began as soon as the question hour started at 1030hours. Congress Legislature Party leader Ramachandra Kadam standing on his seat protested against the decision. Soon several of his party colleagues rushed to the well, shouted slogans, and thumped the Speaker's podium in protest. At the same time, the BJD Legislators extended their support by standing in their respective seats. As the house plunged into a chaotic situation, the Speaker adjourned the house at 1038hrs till 1130hrs. After the house was reassembled, the Legislators of both the BJD and the Congress stormed into the well and shouted slogans in protest. The Speaker said she received the notice for the adjournment given by CLP leader Rama Chandra Kadam and C S Rajjen Ekka on Thursday and sent it to the Minister concerned. The debate on the adjournment was not allowed after the Minister said the issue was subjudice and could not be discussed in the house. She appealed to the agitating members to take their seats and participate in the conduct of the business of the house. But as the legislators continued their agitation refusing to heed calls for order, the Speaker adjourned the house at 11.33hrs till 1600hrs...////...
