In a message, the Chief Minister described Dr. Manmohan Singh as a great son of the country, widely respected across the world for his knowledge and expertise in economics. As Finance Minister, Dr. Singh gave a new direction to the nation's economy. His liberal economic policies marked the beginning of India’s journey as a major global economy. Majhi further stated that, as Prime Minister, Dr. Singh accelerated the country’s development in various fields.
