Bhubaneswar, April 30 (Reporter) Biju Janata Dal Supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday filed his nomination papers from the Hinjili Assembly Constituency.
Hinjili Constituency will go to the polls in the second phase of election in the state on May 20.
Election for five Lok Sabha and 35 Assembly seats in Odisha will be held in the fifth phase of elections in the country on May 20 and in the second phase in the state.
The nominations for the second phase of the election was started on April 26 and it would continue till May 3.
In the morningm Naveen Patnaik reached Chhatrapur, the district headquarters of Ganjam district by helicopter. He filed the nomination in the office of the Sub-Collector after offering puja at the Taratarini temple.
BJD leader V K Pandian, Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, Polasara MLA Srikanta Sahu, BJD Berhampur Lok Saba candidate Bhrigu Baxipatra, and several other leaders were present.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the district administration and the police for the filing of nomination by the Chief Minister.
Around 13 platoons of police were deployed for the purpose.
Naveen is contesting the election from Hinjili for the sixth time. He is representing the Hinjli Assembly constituency since 2000.
