Odisha DGP reviews security arrangements for inauguration of Sri Mandir Parikrama project

Puri, Jan 15 (Reporter) Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi on Monday reviewed the security arrangements ahead of the inauguration of Sri Mandir Parikrama project scheduled for Wedesday. On the inaugural day, eighty platoons of police, three K9 units, four Bomb detection and disposal squad, anti sabotage team, plain cloth intelligence personnel will be deployed with an integrated police control room to monitor the situation. The town will be placed under four layer security on January 17, the DGP said. About 44 platoons of police have been deployed from January 12 to January 16 besides 100 supervising officers, 250 sub inspectors and regular police. Additional DGP Sanjay Kumar will remain in charge of the security arrangements, Sarangi said. Security of guests, devotees, hassle free darshan and regulation of traffic will be treated on priority, the DGP added. As per revised arrangements, a special auditorium has been erected on the Parikrama for nine hundred guests. A number of huge digital screens have been installed to enable the guests to witness the inaugural ceremony. Fifty electric vehicles will be pressed into service to transport guests to the Parikrama venue. As per the schedule the three day yajna which began from January 15 afternoon will conclude on January 17 noon after Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb offers Purna Ahuti. The auspicious time for Purna Ahuti is scheduled in between 1.30 to 2.30 pm. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will dedicate the Srimandir Parikrama for devotees in between 1.15 PM to 1.30 PM. On the other hand, a trial run on the newly constructed Sri Setu (Trumpet bridge) was held on Monday morning. Jagannath express buses will ply to Puri from Samsung bus stand to Jagannath ballav and from there devotees will go to Parikrama by electric vehicles from January 18 to facilitate transport of devotees. The Administration has decorated the entire town with flowers and decorative lights while all the walls were full of graffiti presenting a spectacular look. All the temple gates have been decorated with flowers. The yajna mandap is also decorated. A number of Sankirtan teams are going round the parikrama reciting religious hymns. Twenty mutts located within the Parikrama corridor have been also decorated with flowers giving a spiritual look. Almost all the trees located alongside the roads of the town are illuminated with decorative lights. The night view of the town is amazing...////...
