Odisha govt directs officials to monitor paddy procurement in mandis

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15 (Reporter) The Odisha government has instructed all concerned officials to maintain strict vigilance at every mandi to ensure transparency in the paddy procurement process. The paddy procurement process for the kharif season is currently underway in the state. According to official sources, measures are being taken to ensure that no eligible farmer faces difficulties during the procurement process. Additional arrangements have also been made to benefit farmers at the mandis. At present, 3,893 nodal officers have been appointed across 3,903 mandis to assist farmers, while 1,031 supervisors have been assigned responsibility for overseeing two to three mandis each. These officials are addressing the issues faced by farmers at the mandis. Furthermore, arrangements have been made for farmers to directly report their grievances. Paddy is being procured from registered farmers at a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs.2,300 per quintal, along with an input assistance of Rs.800...////...
