Bhubaneswar, Feb 15 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and BJD Supremo, Naveen Patnaik, stated that the media should serve as a beacon of truth by highlighting both the success and sufferings of the common man, despite pressures and challenges.
"Falsehood may cover the truth for some time, but not forever," Patnaik said at the annual conclave of Nandighosh TV here on Saturday.
The BJD supremo noted that social media is increasingly gaining popularity among the youth. However, he cautioned against its misuse through the spread of misinformation and fake news.
Patnaik further emphasized that mainstream media must prepare for the challenges and opportunities arising from emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence.
"The responsibility lies with mainstream media to verify facts," the former Chief Minister said, urging the media to be the voice of the voiceless and to strengthen the socio-democratic fabric of our great country.
He reiterated that in a democracy, people are supreme, and the media serves as a powerful instrument of democracy.
The BJD Supremo added that the media must fulfill its great responsibility for the benefit of the people.
Naveen expressed hope that Nandighosh TV would become the voice of the people and play a pivotal role in advancing the development journey of Odia society...////...
