Bhubaneswar, May 14 (Reporter) Prasana Kumar Naik, a Presiding officer died in a road accident in Nuapada district while returning home after the first phase election in Odisha was over on Monday.
Odisha Chief Electoral Officer N B Dhal on Tuesday said Naik died while he was returning home after depositing the EVM and other election-related materials.
Dhal expressed his profound grief over the death and expressed his deep sympathies to the bereaved family members. He also prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
Late Naik, an employee of a bank at Sinapalli in Nuapada district was appointed as the Presiding officer at the Ranimunda booth no 184 Under the Kharial Assembly constituency for the election..
The CEO said in addition to the assistance given to his family as per law a compensatory assistance of Rs 15 lakh would be provided to his family as per the announcement of the Election Commission of India.
The CEO directed the Nabarangpur District Collector to start the process as per the law at the earliest...////...
