Bhubaneswar, May 20 (Reporter) An estimated 35.32 per cent polling was recorded till 1 PM in Odisha, state Chief Electoral Officer N B Dhal said here on Monday. Around 35.32 per cent of 79.62 lakh voters exercised their franchise in five Lok Sabha and 35 Assembly seats in Odisha till 1 PM. The CEO said polling is going on smoothly across the state. He said though an auto driver was stabbed to death in Bargarh but it was not related to election. The murder was committed due to personal rivalry, CEO N B Dhal and Northern Range IG Himanshu Lal said. Dhal said Bargarh Lok Sabha seat reported the highest turnaround of 38.18 per cent followed by Sundergarh Lok Sabha constituency 36.32 per cent, Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat 35.09 per cent, Aska 34.38 per cent and Bolangir 32.09 per cent. Jharsugura Assembly seat reported the highest polling percentage of 40.82 per cent, followed by Boudh 40.60 per cent and Bargarh 37.19 per cent. The lowest polling percentage of 32.04 per cent was reported from Bolangir. Kandhamal Asembly seat reported 32.55 per cent polling and Subarnapur reported 35.01 per cent polling. Today’s polling will seal the fate of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is contesting from both Hinjili and Kantabanji Assembly seats, his six council of ministers, two fomer union Ministers Jual Oram and Dillip Ray, four former Odisha ministers and several sitting MLAs. The polling will also decide the electoral fortunes of sitting MPs Jual Oram,(Sundargarh) Sangeeta Sing Deo (Bolangir) and Achyut Samant (Kandhamal). In the 2019 general elections, out of the five Lok Sabha seats, the BJP won the Sundargarh, Bolangir and Bargarh seat while the ruling BJD won Kandhamal and Aska Lok sabha seats. Similarly, out of 35 Assembly seats, the ruling BJD had won 26 Assembly seats in the 2019 election followed by four each by both BJP and Congress and one seat by the CPI(M)...////...
