Bhubaneswar, Jan 23 (Reporter) The STF of Odisha police arrested a drug peddler on Tuesday and recovered 143 kg of Ganja and other incriminating materials from him. STF sources said on the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by a team of STF and BBSR with the help of Boudh Police near Kalakhandi village under Puruna Katak PS jurisdiction in Boudh district. During the raid, one Parikhita Behera involved in the illegal trade of narcotic drugs was apprehended, and during the search Ganja, weighing more than 143 kg, and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from his possession. The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials, for which he has been detained and will be forwarded to the District and Sessions Judge, as well as the Spl. Judge, Boudh District. A case under U/S 20 (b)(ii)(c)/29 of the NDPS Act 1985 is being registered against Behera. Since 2020, STF has seized more than 74 kg of brown sugar or heroin, 202 grams of cocaine, and more than 117 quintals of ganja or marijuana, 3 kg of opium, and arrested more than 185 drug dealers and peddlers.
