One die, 5 hurt in bunker tanker collapse at Mettur Thermal plant

Chennai, Dec 19 (Reporter) One worker died and five others were injured when the bunker tanker collapsed at one of two Thermal Power Plants at Mettur in Salem district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday evening. When contacted by UNI, reports received at the police headquarters here tonight confirmed that one person has died in the tragedy and five others were injured and admitted to a hospital. While one person died after being buried under the huge pile of coal, five others were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment. Reports said the incident occurred at the 840 MW plant. The other unit generates 600 MW. The coal will be stored in the bunker from where it was said be transported to the boiler for power generation.
