Over 1.10 lakh Mizoram farmers receive PM Kisan benefits

Aizawl, Oct 6 (Reporter) Over 1.10 lakh farmers in Mizoram are among 9.4 crore farmers across India who received monetary benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) scheme, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi disbursed the funds from Washim, Maharashtra. According to an official statement issued in Aizawl, this is the second installment of PM Kisan disbursements for this year. The program was joined online by the state’s special secretary of the agriculture and farmers’ welfare department along with district agriculture officers (DAOs) from across Mizoram. Launched in 2019, PM Kisan is touted as the world’s largest welfare scheme for farmers, as well as a major digital initiative of the central government. Under the scheme, registered farmers receive Rs 2,000 every four months, amounting to a total of Rs 6,000 annually through direct benefit transfer (DBT). However, the state governor, Hari Babu Kambhampati, and several central ministers have expressed concerns over the lack of awareness among farmers in Mizoram about various central schemes.
