Over 600 stranded people rescued by Indian Army in Pondy

Chennai, Dec 1 (Reporter) More than 600 stranded people were rescued by the Indian Army from three locations on Sunday in Puducherry near which the Cyclone Fengal crossed the coast. A defence release said Indian Army troops from Chennai Garrison Battalion under the Dakshin Bharat Area rescued stranded people at three locations. This include 145 people rescued at Krishnanagar, 225 people at Kuber Nagar and 165 persons at Jiva Nagar. The teams at the three locations have now rescued more than 600 persons. The teams also provided food packets with emergency ration and water bottles to 580 persons along with medical aid to the injured at their respective locations. The Indian Army teams are working in close coordination with the Civil Administration, NDRF and other volunteers in Puducherry.
