Palakkad (Kerala) , Nov 20 ( UNI) Around 41.70 percent of electorate have exercised their franchise till 1400 hours in the byelection to Palakkad Assembly Constituency on Wednesday.
Long queues were seen in almost all the polling booths in remote areas, while the voter turnout in urban areas was less.
Mathur Panchayat recorded highest polling of 43.62 percent, while in Kannadi and Pirayari panchayats it was 42.66 and 42.38 percent and 41.24 percent at Palakkad Municipal limits so far.
The polling was underway in a peaceful manner. There was few EVM complaints and it was rectified soon by the Election authorities.
The three key contestants Rahul Mamkootathil of the United Democratic Front (UDF), P. Sarin of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and C. Krishnakumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were in the fray.
The bypoll in Palakkad Assembly Constituency was necessitated after MLA Shafi Parambil won the Lok Sabha election from Vadakara in April this year...////...
