Chennai, Mar 4 (Reporter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here by a
special aircraft from Telangana on a short visit to Tamil Nadu on Monday.
After a brief reception at the airport, Mr Modi flew to Kalpakkam, about
70 km from here, in a helicopter where reviewed the progress of India's
first Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor being built by BHAVINI.
From Kalpakkam, he will again fly back to Chennai in a helicopter
and address a public meeting organised by the BJP titled "Thamarai
Manadu" (Lotus Conference) at the sprawling YMCA grounds
around 1700 hrs ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
He would leave the city around 1815 hrs.
This is Mr Modi's second visit in five days after he visited Tiruppur and the
southern districts of Thoothukudi, Madurai and Tirunelveli on February 27
and 28.
A five-layered security arrangements have been put in place and 15,000
police personnel were deployed in view of the Prime Ministers brief visit
to the city.
In view of his visit, on the orders of Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner
Sandeep Rai Rathore a total of 15,000 Police Officers and personnel, including
Additional Commissioners of Police, JCsP, DCsP, ACsP, Police officers and
personnel from Law and Order, Crime, Traffic and Special Units, Armed Reserve,
Commando Force and police personnel from Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP)
were deployed on security duty and a 5-layer elaborate security arrangements
have been made.
Intensive security arrangements, intensive checking and surveillance were being
carried out at Nandanam YMCA ground where the event takes place, Chennai Airport
and surrounding areas.
Vehicle checks and patrolling were intensified at important roads and junctions and
police officers and personnel are intensively monitoring important Railway stations
and Bus terminals.
In view of Mr Modi's visit, the Nandanam area has been declared as a "Red Zone'
and drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are banned from flying within the Greater
Chennai Police jurisdiction u/s 144 of Criminal Procedural Code...////...
