Bhubaneswar, Feb 8 (Reporter) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of befooling the people of the country about his caste.
Addressing the gatherings at Jharsuguda in Western Odisha during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Odisha, Rahul said Modi was born to the general caste.
The Congress leader said the Prime Minister was born in a Teli caste family which was a general caste at the time of his birth. The BJP government in Gujarat, however later included the Teli caste as OBC category.
“Modi was not born in the OBC community, he belonged to the general caste and it was only in the year 2000 that the Gujarat government included the 'Teli' community in the OBC category,” Rahul Gandhi said.
He stated that Modi would never allow a caste census to be carried out in the country because he was not born in OBC. The Congress and Rahul Gandhi will do it , he told the gatherings.
Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in Parliament, accusing the UPA government of not doing justice with OBCs, Rahul said “Modi ji never hugs an OBC or a Mazdoor,he only hugs Adani”.
Rahul further said “When I raise the issue of social justice, I am blamed for raising caste issues, talking about Dalits, OBCs, tribals who together constitute at least 73 percent of the population of the country.
He further said Modi said there are only two castes in the country- one is Rich and the other is Poor.
I want to ask Modi ji which caste he belongs to whether Rich or Poor, Rahul said adding a person(Modi) who frequently changes his costly suits thrice during the day can never be a Poor.
The Congress MP also slammed Modi for implementing the GST and Demonetization only to help Adani at the cost of small businessmen.
Rahul also targeted the Naveen Patnaik government in Odisha. He said the BJP and BJD are partners and have conspired to loot the mining of the state.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Odisha was completed on Thursday. Rahul Gandhi entered Jharsuguda from Sundargarh on Thursday and held a road show before addressing a public meeting at Jharsuguda.
Party sources said Rahu left for Chhattisgarh from where he will fly back to Delhi.
However, his Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra will resume from Chhattisgarh on February 11 next after a two-day gap, Congress sources said...////...
