PM Modi inaugurates various railway stations, flyovers, underpasses

Mumbai, Feb 26 (Reporter) The Indian Railways is undergoing rejuvenation with construction of modern infrastructure in the railway system, asserted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Speaking at inaugural function of various railway stations, railway flyovers and railway underpasses via video link, he said that infrastructure works in various sectors are being done in the country on a large scale and at a great speed, giving a big boost to employment. He said that Indian Railways is the carrier of progress of agricultural and industrial sectors of the country, along with passenger convenience and the railway system is also changing rapidly. Touching upon Amrut Bharat Railway Station Scheme, he said that this scheme was launched to equip railway stations with modern facilities. This modernisation will also greatly boost employment generation in the railway station area, he noted. The construction of each railway station will be based on its cultural and historical background, having special facilities for disabled and senior citizens, he added. Modi inaugurated Rs 41,000 crore worth railway projects, redevelopment of 554 railway stations under Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, foundation laying and dedication of 1,500 over bridges and underpasses. On this occasion Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was also present through video conference, while Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, former MLA Raj Purohit, additional general manager Prakash Mishra were present at Marine Lines Railway Station in Mumbai. Speaking on occasion, the Chief Minister said that there have been unprecedented changes in various systems of railways in last 10 years and it is a matter of pride that Indian Railways is becoming environment-friendly while building modern infrastructure for railways and providing facilities to passengers. He said that Indian Railways is providing huge help to improve railway infrastructure in Maharashtra and pointed that at present, 241 railway projects worth more than Rs 2,274 crore are under progress in the state namely Amrit Bharat Station, Road Over Bridge (ROB) and Road Under Bridge (RUB). A record provision of Rs 15,554 crore has been made for Maharashtra in this year's budget, he said and added that 56 stations in Maharashtra will be developed as world-class railway stations, he added...////...
