Bhubaneswar, Sep 17 (Reporter) On his 74th birthday on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was offered "Kheer," a popular Odia sweet delicacy, by a tribal family during the 'Griha Pravesh' ceremony of the PM Awas Yojana in Gadakana village, located in the capital city of Bhubaneswar. Upon his arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Modi travelled to Gadakana village to launch the ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremony for PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries. The Prime Minister, accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, visited Sabar Sahi and participated in the 'Griha Pravesh' ceremony of one Antaryami Nayak, where he offered prayers to Lord Jagannath. He tasted the kheer prepared by Antaryami’s wife, Sadhavi Nayak, inside their newly built PM Awas home, along with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the family members of Antaryami. The village of Gadakana took on a festive appearance for the Prime Minister's visit, with hundreds of villagers braving the rain and waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of Modi and convey their birthday wishes. Modi also interacted with several women beneficiaries in the area and responded to their questions. Later, speaking at the launch of the 'Subhadra Yojana' at Janata Maidan, the Prime Minister became emotional as he reflected on the offer of kheer by a tribal family, saying it reminded him of his mother. Modi remarked, “When my mother was alive, I used to visit her on my birthday to seek her blessings, and she would offer and feed me ‘gud’ (jaggery). My mother is no more, but an Adivasi woman treated me and offered kheer on my birthday.” Modi spent some time in the house of Antaryami Nayak and interacted with the family members.
