Cuttack, May 20 (Reporter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday intensified his criticism of the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha, stating that the Mafia raj and corruption had ruined the state. Addressing the Vijaya Sankalp Samavesh at the famous Bali Yatra ground in Cuttack during his third round of campaigning in Odisha, Modi stated that during its 25-year rule, the BJD has only produced coal mafias, sand mafias, and mining mafias, thereby ruining the state. He urged the people of Odisha to abandon the slow-moving BJD government and opt for the fast-paced a double-engine government of the BJP for the state's development. The PM accused the BJD government of betraying the poor people of the state through the chit fund scam, where chit fund companies looted crores of rupees from investors. He remarked that the people's anger is evident as BJD Ministers and MLAs are continuously engaged in corruption. Modi claimed that since the BJP government came to power at the centre, it has provided Odisha with three times more funds than what it received during the Congress regime. He stated that the Modi government has given Rs 50,000 crore as its share of mining tax, compared to Rs 5,000 crore during the Congress rule. Additionally, the Modi government provided Rs 26,000 crore from the District Mineral Fund for various developmental projects for the poor in mining areas. However, the Prime Minister alleged that the corrupt BJD government looted these funds and prevented the projects from taking off. Modi further claimed that although the central government provided significant funds for various road and railway projects, the BJD government delayed these projects until they received their 'cut' or commission. He accused the BJD government of awarding job contracts to close associates and embezzling the money. The PM said there is a lack of development in every sector, including education, water, healthcare, and roads. Without naming anyone, he stated that one mafia has taken control of almost all sectors in Odisha, stifling competition. Modi assured the people that if the BJP is voted into power, it will dismantle the mafia's power. The PM highlighted that despite Cuttack being surrounded by rivers, the city faces a shortage of drinking water and suffers from waterlogging. Modi reiterated that Odisha will write a new history, with a BJP chief minister taking oath on June 10, and the BJP-led NDA government forming at the Centre. He urged the people to vote for BJP candidates for both the state assembly and Lok Sabha to establish strong governments in Odisha and at the Centre to stop the looting. The PM emphasized that an Odia should be the Chief Minister of Odisha and questioned how someone who does not understand Odia culture could govern the state. Modi pointed out that the state's youth are the most affected by corruption, as they have to migrate to other states in search of jobs due to the closure of several industrial units. He assured that the BJP government would focus on establishing industries, attracting investment, and reviving old industrial units in the state and pledged that even though he would be in Delhi, he would ensure that the BJP government in Odisha faces no problems...////...
