Bengaluru, June 5 (Reporter) Former Chief Minister and newly elected MP of the Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha constituency Basavaraj Bommai, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's exceptional political skills, asserting that the latter is well-equipped to handle any challenge that comes his way.
Addressing the media after his triumph in the Haveri elections here on Wednesday, Bommai expressed his gratitude and confidence in the leadership of Modi and senior party leaders. "I have been elected to the Lok Sabha under very special circumstances," Bommai stated. "I contested as per the guidance of the Prime Minister and senior party leaders. Their calculations have been correct."
Reflecting on Modi's enduring appeal and political strategy, Bommai remarked, "Looking at the country, Modi is becoming Prime Minister for the third time. There is a confidence that Modi will handle any situation."
Bommai highlighted Modi's unique approach to politics, citing his management of the Gujarat riots and his ability to secure a complete majority despite fierce competition. "He increased the majority and expanded the NDA," Bommai noted. "The 'INDI' coalition shows no development. Nitish Kumar or Chandrababu Naidu will not rely on Congress."
Comparing the NDA's current performance to previous assembly elections, Bommai asserted, "The caste question does not arise. This time, the NDA has performed better."
Bommai didn't shy away from criticizing the Congress party, pointing out their reliance on allies rather than their strength. "Congress relied on ally parties, not their strength. They won seats due to the strength of all parties. The alliance with JD(S) in South Karnataka has been good, and we have received significant votes. People are tired of the government and have supported the alliance."
In response to allegations from Siddaramaiah regarding Modi's guarantees, Bommai was defiant. "We have achieved success among the guarantees. They claimed they would win 20 seats in Karnataka, but they stopped at 9. The DK brothers lost. They have no moral right to speak."
On the topic of Minister Nagendra's resignation amidst allegations of irregularities, the former Chief Minister stated, "The irregularity has been proven, and an SIT investigation is ongoing. The CBI has entered. If the SIT works honestly, there is no problem. Otherwise, the CBI will start its investigation."
Bommai's remarks underscore his unwavering support for Modi and the BJP, as well as his belief in the party's strategy and performance. With a new term ahead, Bommai's confidence in Modi's leadership and his electoral success set the stage for what promises to be an eventful tenure in the Lok Sabha...////...
