Chennai, Jan 18 (Reporter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be arriving on a 3-day visit to Tamil Nadu on Friday to inaugurate the Khelo India Youth games and launch various projects, besides visiting various temples in Trichy, Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi on January 20 and 21.
Police have made 5-tier security arrangements in view of his visit with the deployment of 22,000 police personnel on bandobust duty in Chennai and other districts in the state.
Mr Modi will be arriving at the Chennai Airport tomorrow evening around 1700 hrs.
After a welcome reception by BJP leaders and alliance party leaders, Mr Modi will board a helicopter and reach INS Adyar from where he will reach the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by road to inaugurate the Khelo India Youth Games, launch the revamped DD Podhigai channel as DD Tamil and also lay the foundation stone and launch projects worth Rs 250 crore for strengthening broadcasting
sector in the country.
Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers, MPs and MLAs will take part in the function which is expected to last 90 minutes.
From Nehru Staidum, Mr Modi will reach Raj Bhavan for an overnight stay. At the Raj Bhavan he is expected to meet BJP State leaders, including State Unit President K.Annamalai, Union Minister L.Murugan and other office-bearers to discuss about the strategy and preparedness for the
Lok Sabha elections due in 3-4 months time.
On Saturday, he is expected to visit temples in Trichy, including the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam and the ancient Lord Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram and various other temples.
A PMO statement said "PM to visit Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli; to listen scholars reciting verses from the Kamba Ramayanam in this temple; Pm to visit Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple; witness the chanting of the Ramayana in multiple languages
and participate in Bhajan Sandhya; PM to also visit Kothandaramaswamy Temple, Dhanushkodi; Arichal Munai and various significant temples in Tamil Nadu on 20-21 January, 2024".
Meanwhile, a top police official on Thursday said security has been tightened ahead of Mr Modi's visit in Chennai, Trichy, Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi.
Tight security have been put in place at the airport, INS Adyar, Nehru Stadium and at Raj Bhavan ahead of Mr Modi's visit and traffic diversions were also announced for tomorrow in the city.
A five-tier security arrangement have been made involving 22,000 police officers and personnel
in Chennai.
In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, Greater Chennai Commissioner of Police Sandeep Rai Rathore conducted a special security review meeting with Additional Commissioners of Police, Joint Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners.
Accordingly, under the overall supervision of the Commissioner of Police, 22,000 Police Officers and personnel including Additional Commissioners, JCsP, DCsP, ACsP, Police officers and personnel from Law and Order, Crime, Traffic and Special Units, Armed Reserve, Commando Force and police
personnel from Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP), will be deployed as part of elaborate security arrangements.
Intensive security arrangements, intensive checking and surveillance are underway at Periamet, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai where the event takes place, Chennai Airport, Raj Bhavan, Guindy, Adyar INS and surrounding areas.
Further, searches are taking place in Lodges, Hotels and Star Hotels in the city looking for suspects and strangers. Also intensive Vehicle check-up are conducting at important roads and junctions.
Apart from this, police officers and personnel are intensively monitoring important Railway stations and bus terminals.
In view of the Prime Ministers visit, police have banned flying of drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles within the Greater Chennai Police jurisdiction under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedural Code.
In view of the security reasons, the areas coming under the jurisdiction of Greater Chennai Police including Chennai International Airport, INS Adyar, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Periamet, Raj Bhavan and the route traversed i.e. INS Adyar to Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Periamet, from there to Raj Bhavan and Raj Bhavan to Chennai International Airport have been declared as a Red Zone (Red Zone) and flying of drone cameras and any other aerial objects have been banned for two days from tomorrow...////...
