Chennai, July 14 (Reporter) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Sunday raised doubts over the encounter killing of surrendered BSP leader K.Armstrong murder case accused Thiruvengadam and demanded a court monitored probe into it. The PMK also reiterated its demand for a CBI into the July 5 Armstrong killing. In a statement here, PMK President and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Anbumani Ramadoss said the encounter killing has raised several doubts. "When the accused involved in the high-profile murder was taken into police custody for questioning, it was suspected that some of them would be shot dead by the police. That suspicion has been confirmed with the encounter killing of Thiruvengadam", he claimed. Noting that the reasons given by the police on the encounter were not credible, Dr Anbumani, who is also a former Union Minister, contended that there was no need to take a surrendered accused in the early hours of morning to seize arms in a high-profile murder case. He also said with the encounter killing of Thiruvengadam, doubts have arisen as to whether there was any conspiracy to save some of the people involved and cover up the facts in the Armstrong murder case. While allowing law and order to break down on the one hand and then trying to show that it has been restored by shooting to death one or two rowdies by the police is a very bad approach. This approach is condemnable, he added. Observing that the mystery surrounding Armstrong's murder has been further strengthened with this encounter killing, Dr Abumani said the actions of the government in this matter are not beyond doubt. The government should remove the doubts raised in this regard. For that, a court monitored probe should be ordered into the encounter killing and reiterated that as demanded by him, the Armstrong murder case should be transferred to the CBI, he said...////...
