Lucknow, Feb 5 (Reporter) Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday alleged that democracy and fair election process were flouted at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the Milkipur assembly by-election of Ayodhya. In a statement issued here, Akhilesh said, "BJP and the administration did fake voting at many places and rigged the elections." He said that the attitude of the police-administration was undemocratic. "SP booth agents were intimidated at dozens of booths. BJP used all kinds of tricks to commit dishonesty in Milkipur. BJP goons created chaos to influence the Milkipur by-election. They got open protection from the police-administration. The police-administration gave a free hand to the BJP goons and grossly violated the election code of conduct," he alleged. The SP chief said that the administration and BLOs got fake voting done at many booths in the Milkipur by-election. "BJP's power-protected people called goons from outside and got fake voting done. SDM himself complained to the Election Commission about booth capturing at booth number 158. Demanded the Commission to take cognisance of the matter and take action against such officers," he said. He said that the police-administration influenced the voting by creating an atmosphere of fear among the voters. "BJP supporters themselves have admitted that they have cast fake votes. One person alone cast 6 votes. SP candidate Ajit Prasad himself caught some people while casting fake votes," he claimed. Akhilesh said that the person who himself spoke about casting fake votes in Raipatti Amaniganj in the Milkipur by-election has made it clear how the officers in the BJP government are involved in rigging. "What more proof does the Election Commission need?," he said. He said that the SP complained to the Election Commission through social media that Sector Magistrate Ashwani Kumar and Chowki Incharge Khandasa Anurag Pathak and the Presiding Officer together influenced the voting at some booths. He said that in the Milkipur Assembly by-election, SP agents were either thrown out or were not made agents at many polling stations. "Complaints of malfunctioning of EVMs were received at most of the booths. EVMs were faulty at many places, but the machine at Kutia Amaniganj was faulty for more than 2 hours and voting was disrupted. Despite the slip, voters were not allowed to vote at many places. Muslim women were intimidated and humiliated on the pretext of identifying them by removing their burqa," he alleged. Akhilesh said that the BJP has destroyed the election process. "It is hell-bent on killing democracy. The BJP government and administration have openly hijacked the election process. The by-election has become just a formality. Government officials and employees are openly doing fake voting. Samajwadi Party supporters were not allowed to vote," he said. He said that the BJP is so afraid of losing the election that it openly looted votes without any shame. "In the Milkipur election, the police did not hesitate to go beyond its authority and jurisdiction and intimidate SP voters and get fake voting done. Senior police officials also checked the identity cards of voters. A democratic crime has been committed to indirectly influence voting by creating fear in voters. Even after so many complaints, BJP did not desist from destroying the sanctity of the democratic process," he said...////...
