Patna, Jan 9 (Reporter) " Jan Suraaj " on Thursday alleged that the district administration of Patna had taken Prashant Kishor to Beur jail on Monday without a custodial warrant, but the jail superintendent refused to lodge him in jail without relevant papers. Amit Kumar, an advocate of Patna High Court, associated with Jan Suraaj, told media persons here that Kishore was arrested from Gandhi Maidan on Monday for his fast unto death dharna, which was described as illegal by the district administration of Patna. Authorities had pointed out that Gandhi Maidan was not a designated place for dharna and protests. Kishor was produced in court after his arrest, where he was granted conditional bail, but he had refused to accept the condition of not staging dharna and protest again. Kumar said that Kishor was taken to Beur jail without a custodial warrant, and the jail superintendent refused to lodge him in jail as relevant papers were not handed to him for the purpose. It was irresponsible behaviour of the administration, he alleged. "Kishor was taken to AIIMS, Patna, after his arrest, but doctors refused to admit him and give a fitness certificate," Jan Suraaj, advocate, said, adding that Kishor was taken to a Fatuha-based community hospital where doctors also refused to give a fitness certificate. There was no point for the administration to take Kishor to Fatuha Hospital, he pointed out. Kumar said that police imposed sections against Kishor that were bailable. The court had observed that in such a case, the accused should have been granted bail from the police station itself, he added.
