PSJ court to frame charges against Ex-TN Minister Senthilbalaji on Aug 7, extends remand

Chennai, Aug 2(Reporter) The Principal Sessions Court on Friday evening said charges would be framed against former Tamil Nadu Minister V.Senthilbalaji, arrested by the ED and lodged in prison in a money laundering case, on August 7, while extending his judicial remand till that date. Admitting the plea filed by M Senthilbalaji seeking to defer framing of charges on health grounds, Principal Sessions Judge Ms. S.Alli directed the prosecution to produce before him physically on August 7 for framing of charges. Mr Balaji was produced before the court from Puzhal Central Prison from his hospital bed via video-conferencing as he was under treatment following indisposition. The Judge accepted his plea and adjourned the case to August 7 for framing of charges with a direction to produce him before the court on that day. The court was earlier scheduled to frame charges against him on July 22 but it was deferred as he complained of chest pain and was admitted to hospital. He was later discharged after treatment and escorted back to prison after treatment, when he complained of health complications today and was being treated. In this background he filed a plea seeking to defer framing of charges on July 21. Counsel for Mr Balaji also submitted that the petition filed by him challenging the dismissal of his discharge plea from the case by the PSJ court was yet to come up for hearing, he pleaded for deferment of framing of charges in the case...////...
