Pune, Jun 16 (Reporter) Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Muralidhar Mohol, said on Sunday that new terminal of the Pune airport will become operational soon.
Speaking on the same, he said that he held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed three important issues related to Pune, which includes operationalisation of new terminal, removal of accident-stricken aircraft from the bay and provision of National Disaster Management Fund to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Giving details about discussions, he said that new terminal at Pune airport will open soon and a positive decision regarding the same was taken.
He further said that funds from the National Disaster Management Authority to control floods in Pune city were pending for some time and Shah assured to release funds soon.
He said that funds will be utilised for various works such as rain water drainage and floods control in city.
Mohol further said that since accident-stricken aircraft of Air India is parked at the bay of Pune airport, it has put a strain on passenger traffic of other planes.
As it is likely to take some more time to repair aircraft, there is an option to temporarily shift aircraft to the Air Force site, he said.
