Pune, June 6 (Reporter) In a significant development in the Kalyani Nagar accident case here in Maharashtra, accused teen's grandfather SK Agarwal has moved a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking relief from what he claims as "illegal and wrongful detention by the Pune Police".
The 77-year-old was arrested on May 25, in connection with the case involving his 17-year-old grandson, who alleged drunk drove a luxury Porsche sports car over two techies killing them in Kalyani Nagar on May 19.
The Pune Police’s Crime Branch took Agarwal into custody on May 25. Additionally, the Yerawada Police Station registered a separate FIR against him on the same day.
The charges include wrongful abduction, illegal confinement, and criminal intimidation of Gangadhar Shivraj Hrikrub, family driver, under IPC sections 342, 365, 368, and 506 read with 34, said his legal counsel Adv Aashuutosh Srivastava.
Srivastava said "My client was arrested and presently languishing at the Yerwada Central Prison. My client is a senior citizen and has been wrongfully roped in the present case based on mere allegations."
"It is crucial to note that the legal provisions and compliances as laid down in the Criminal Procedure Code are not followed while detaining my client," he said explaining the ground for his plea...////...
