Bhubaneswar, June 2 (Reporter) The death toll in the Puri fire cracker explosion case rose to 13 on Sunday with the deaths of two more injured people, Special Relief Commissioner office sources said.
SRC office sources said, as per the information of the Health and Family Welfare Department, the death toll rose to 13 with the deaths of two more people.
The Collector, Puri, has taken steps for payment of Rs 4 lakh each towards ex-gratia assistance to the Next of Kins of deceased persons.
Presently, 17 patients are under treatment in different hospitals in Puri, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar. The situation is being closely monitored by the government.
Around 30 people were injured in a fire explosion, during the celebration of Lord Sri Jaganath's Chandan yatra on the night of May 29.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered an inquiry into the incident and announced an exgratia of Rs four lakh to the kin of each deceased.
The Puri Police has registered a suo motu case and is investigating the case.
Sources said SRC Satyabrata Sahu will start inquiring into the incident on
June 5.
Meanwhile, Puri police detained four crackers and interrogated them...////...
