Hyderabad, Dec 21 (Reporter) In the wake of stampede incident at Sandhya Theater on December 4 which claimed the life of a woman and left a boy critically injured and presently in coma in a hospital here, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said in the Assembly that his government will not allow any benefit shows for the new films in the state, or allow the hike in price of tickets. The stampede incident occurred during the premiere show of the movie Pushpa 2, attended by actor Allu Arjun despite police denying permission for such gatherings. He said that the police investigation into the Sandhya Theater incident was underway, and all those responsible have been arrested. Reddy explained that the Sandhya Theater management had applied for security at Chikkadapally Police Station ahead of the Pushpa 2 premiere show, stating that the film’s hero, heroine, and producer would attend. However, the police denied the request, citing the area’s limited entry and exit points and the difficulty in managing large crowds. “The Chikkadpally CI clearly informed the theatre management in writing that providing security was not possible and advised against the event,” the CM said. Despite this, Allu Arjun attended the premiere show, arriving on the rooftop of his car, which led to an overwhelming crowd gathering around the theatre. When the theatre gate opened to let the actor’s car in, hundreds of fans surged forward, causing a stampede. Tragically, a woman named Revathi lost her life, and her son suffered severe brain injuries and remained in coma. Expressing anger, the Chief Minister criticised Allu Arjun and the film industry’s response to the tragedy. “Despite the child being in a coma for 20 days, not a single film celebrity has visited the hospital. Why are they rushing to console the actor instead? Did Allu Arjun lose an eye or a leg?” he questioned, accusing the film industry of prioritising its image over accountability. “Such recklessness cannot be tolerated, and strict measures will be in place for the safety of fans and the general public,” Reddy stated. The Chief Minister reiterated that the matter is under investigation, urging everyone to refrain from making statements that could hinder the inquiry. The incident has sparked a broader debate about accountability and safety measures...////...
