Patna, Jan 26 (Reporter) Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar highlighted the schemes of the state government which is bringing positive changes across the state.
Addressing a function after unfurling the National tricolour on the occasion of 75th Republic Day, organised at the historical Gandhi Maidan here on Friday, Arlekar lauded the achievements of state government in various sectors including health, education, employment, tourism and others.
He said all these sectors were growing at an accelerated pace paving the way for an overall development of the state.
The Governor appreciated the centre's announcement conferring the Bharat Ratna award to the great socialist leader Karpoori Thakur for his contribution towards the poor and oppressed class of the society. He said this award has added to the pride of Bihar.
Speaking about the good governance, Arlekar said that the government always focused on good governance and judicious development of every section of the society.
To establish rule of law in Bihar, the government has given top priority to the law and order by controlling crime and was working on multi-pronged strategies to achieve the mission.
Appreciating the seven resolves mission, the Governor said that under this mission, electricity, and drinking water facility has been provided to each and every household. The tolas have been connected with pucca rural roads and the rest of the work have been taken up on war footing.
Under the second phase of the mission, the state government has initiated installation of solar street lights in rural areas.
Tele medicine facilities available at sub health centres in rural areas had made the treatment facility more convenient for the people living in the remote areas, he said, adding that 9359 sub-health centres, health centres and Anganwadis have been activated for availing the tele medicine facilities.
Highlighting the schemes of agriculture and irrigation, the Governor said that the state government was improving the agriculture sector by preparing agricultural road map since 2008 and currently the 4th agricultural road map was being executed for which Rs one lakh 62000 crore has been approved.
Arlekar said that extra water of river Ganga was now being supplied in the water scanty areas including Rajgir, Newada and Gaya under Jal Jivan Hariyali mission.
The government was also working to provide better commuting facilities for which roads, bridges and culverts have been constructed.
In order to improve the educational scenario in the state, the government has initiated several schemes and recently appointed 2.20 lakh teachers.
He said a special regulation has been made to give the status of state employee to the teachers hired in large scale during 2006-07.
The Governor said that special focus was also being accorded to regularise the session and now the new education policy 2020 was also being executed in the state.
The state government was also working on the most important agenda of women empowerment for which their strength has been enhanced in various government services including police. Apart from this, Jeevika self help groups has been constituted with which which more than 1.30 crore didis have been associated.
Special attention was also being accorded for welfare of the women belonging to the minorities and other SC ST categories.
The state government has established social and communal harmony, Arlekar said adding that the Government as decided to open new vistas for providing employment opportunities to the youth.
Outlining the details of the caste survey report, he said that the reservation limit has been increased from 50 to 65% for overall upliftment of the oppressed section of the society.
The Governor said the economically weaker section of general category were already getting 10% reservation facility and with this the reservation limit has increased up to 75%.
Earlier, he took salute of the march past and conferred the awards to the army officers honoured with different medals.
