Itanagar, Jan 20 (Reporter) Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of spreading hatred in the country.
"They (BJP and RSS) are making one religion fight with another. One state fights with the other. And their aim is to loot the public money,” alleged Gandhi, who,, leading the Congress's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, arrived in Itanagar via the Gumto check gate in Arunachal Pradesh's Papum Pare district on Saturday.
The Congress MP, who was accorded a warm reception by the party rank and file at the Gumto gate, arrived at Doimukh by bus and addressed a public meeting at the SDO Ground, from where he traveled to Itanagar via Naharlagun. On his way, he interacted with the vendors at 6 Kilo before addressing a public meeting at the Mallo Tarin Govt Higher Secondary School ground here.
Calling himself a 'warrior' of common people, Gandhi said, “I am your warrior in New Delhi so that I can raise your issues and sufferings in the Parliament."
He reiterated that only 2-3 people are running the BJP government, with 2-3 industrialists reaping the benefit, while the common public is suffering from unemployment, corruption, and price hikes. He also alleged that unemployment has increased manifold in the BJP regime.
Speaking about the plight of Arunachal Pradesh, he said that the state is suffering from unemployment and corruption. “Your money that you get from the GST tax is unable to reap its benefits. There are potholes but no road,” he mocked.
He called the Congress a messenger of love. “In the market of hatred spread by the BJP and RSS, we have opened a shop of love,” he said.
The Congress leader also took a dig at the media for not highlighting the burning issues under the BJP government, claiming they have been captured by the ruling government and the RSS. “This is the reality of the country. Whatever the public says, the media doesn’t highlight. Even the government refuses to listen to them,” he said.
He further claimed that all of the institutions—be it the judiciary, the Election Commission, or the bureaucracy—are being pressurised and frightened by the government to carry out their real jobs...////...
