Chennai, July 6 (Reporter) Leaders of various political parties on Saturday, including Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and ruling DMK President M K Stalin, actor-politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Founder Kamal Haasan, Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Founder Vijay condoled the killing of Dalit leader and BSP State Unit Chief K Armstrong. The leaders urged the State government to take steps to bring the culprits to book immediately. In a social media post, Rahul Gandhi said "Deeply shocked by the brutal and abhorrent killing of Thiru Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu Chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party." "My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and followers", he said. "Tamil Nadu Congress leaders are in constant touch with the Government of Tamil Nadu, and I am confident that the Government will ensure that the culprits are brought to justice expeditiously", he added. Meanwhile, BSP Supremo Ms Mayawati, who also condemned the killing, said she would come down to the city on Sunday to pay tributes and meet his grieving family. Terming Armstrong a hardworking and dedicated leader of the party, the BSP leader said, "The government should immediately take strict/necessary action to prevent such incidents in future." Mr Stalin expressed shock and grief over the killing of Armstrong and said he has directed the police to expedite the case and punish the culprits. In a social media post, he said he was shocked and deeply saddened by the killing. He said the police have arrested the killers overnight. He also offered his condolences to the bereaved members of his family, friends and BSP party cadres. Kamal also condemned the killing and urged the government to take action against the culprits swiftly. Actor Vijay said Armstrong's murder was shocking and painful. "My deepest condolences to Armstrong's bereaved family and friends", he added. The Tamil Nadu government should take necessary precautionary measures to prevent such heinous crimes from happening again. "I urge you to maintain law and order without compromise and ensure everyone's safety|", he said.
