Chennai, Jan 15 (Reporter) There are no land related issues from Tamil Nadu
government on the Madurai-Thoothukudi new line project, Railway Minister
Ashwin Vaishnav has clarified on Wednesday.
Earlier, the Minister, while addressing a media meet in Chennai, had allegedly
said the Madurai-Thoothukudi line project was dropped on a request from the
Tamil Nadu Government.
However, it was immediately denied by Tamil Nadu Transport Minister S S Sivasankar.
Meanwhile, the Railway Minister clarified that No land related issues from TN government
in Madurai-Thoothukudi project.
A Southern Railway release here said on January 10 2025, in a press meet at ICF
Perambur, mediapersons were asking questions simultaneously regarding projects
of Tamil Nadu, and a question was asked about the Madurai-Thoothukudi new line
project, but due to background noise of factory, it was heard as Dhanushkodi project.
Accordingly, the Minister's reply was regarding Dhanushkodi line project that State
Government has written to the Railway Ministry that this project may be dropped
due to land/environmental issues.
Therefore, the mediapersons took his above comments as meant for Madurai-
Thoothukudi project, thus causing unintended confusion, it clarified.
The Minister has clarified that in Madurai-Thoothukudi project, there is no land
related issues from Tamilnadu Government.
The miscommunication happened due to the noisy factory environment and
many media personnel from National and& State media of Electronic/print
media asking multiple questions on pan-India railway issues simultaneously...////...
