Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 13 (Reporter) Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of NCP leader and former Maharashtra M inister Baba Siddique who was shot dead outside his son's office in Mumbai.
"I am deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic and untimely death of my dear friend and colleague, Baba Siddiqui," Chennithala said in a condolence message.
"Our friendship dates back to my Youth Congress days, and we shared a long-standing political association for 48 years. Baba Siddiqui, who recently joined Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP after his long stint with the Congress, was cruelly gunned down while getting into his car after leaving his son's office."
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time. His death is an enormous loss to Maharashtra's political landscape."
"Anarchy is prevailing in Mumbai under the Shinde government. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who holds the Home affairs portfolio, have utterly failed to maintain law and order. If even a former Minister cannot be protected, what hope is there for the safety of ordinary citizens?"
"Since Shinde assumed office, there have been multiple reports of criminal elements infiltrating even the state’s highest offices. The Opposition has raised this issue multiple times. We’ve reached a point where an MLA shot a Shiv Sena leader inside a police station."
"Complete anarchy is prevailing in Mumbai. Underworld gangs and criminals are roaming the streets freely in broad daylight."
"Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must take moral responsibility for Siddiqui’s death and resign immediately," Chennithala added...////...
