Mumbai, Jan 12 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Nana Patole on Friday said that, religion should not be brought in politics but BJP's politics is based on religion. He was speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Kranti Jyoti Savitribai Phule and Rajmata Jijau function at the State Congress office at Tilak Bhavan. He said that, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established Swarajya while the Saints continued with their spiritual work. Shivaji Maharaj did not bring religion into politics. In the rule of Chhatrapati, there was a teaching to not damage a single crop produced by the farmer, but today in the BJP rule, farmers are dying every day and the government doesn't care about them. Many governments have come and gone but they have not used religion for politics but the BJP is doing just that, he said. Women Congress State President Sandhya Savvalakhe, State Vice President Nana Gawande, Chief Spokesperson Atul Londhe, State General Secretary Pramod More were present in this event. Patole further said that, earlier we also gave donations and bricks to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya, we also believe in a Ram temple but the BJP is doing politics over the temple. The partially constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya will take another three years to be ready, but the BJP is in a hurry to stake a claim on the half-built temple to gain political advantage ahead of the elections. All four Shankaracharyas, the highest of rank in Hinduism, are opposed to such a practice. Shankaracharya is saying that it is wrong to perform pran pratishtha in a half-built temple but BJP is not listening to them either. The BJP is corrupting religion and blaming it on the Congress party. The era of Rajmata Jijau, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, Rani of Jhansi was different and the era is different now.
