Kolkata, Feb 15 (Reporter) Renowned singer, lyricist and composer Pratul Mukhopadhyay, whose rendition " Ami Banglay Gaan Gai" became a household song, died following age related ailments at SSKM
Hospital here on Saturday.
He was 83.
The playback singer had been ailing for a long time and recently he was admitted in the state owned hospital.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday visited the hospital in South Kolkata to see the octogenarian folk singer, who was suffering from multiple age-related ailments like septicemia and pneumonia. He also underwent dialysis on Tuesday last.

Born on June 25,1942 in Barisal ( now in Bangladesh) Pratul Mukhopadhyay used to sing his own composition and also lent his voice in some films.
The mortal remains of the singer will be kept at Rabindra Sadan from 2 PM for public viewing before the cremation, family sources said...////...
