Bhubaneswar, Feb 14 (Reporter) The decision of ruling BJD to support the candidature of Union Railway Minister Aswani Vaishnaw for Rajya Sabha seat has surcharged the political atmosphere in Odisha. Congress incharge of Odisha unit Dr Ajoy Kumar reacting to the BJD support to BJP candidate Ashwani Kumar for the Rajya Sabha seat said “BJP-BJD bonhomie." Taking to his X handle, Kumar said” The tactical plan of the two erstwhile married alliance is on the move”. BJD always backed BJP. Now the Odisha understands why CBI- ED never conducted a raid on CM and his close aide Mr.Pandian even though the state witnessed massive scams”. BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal when contacted by the newsmen said “ we have not sought BJD's support for our candidate.You better ask the BJD Supremo for the support to the BJP candidate”. Samal said BJD’ s support to BJP candidate will have no impact in the ensuing Assembly elections in the state as the BJP will fight alone in the Assembly election in the state and ruled out any alliance with the ruling BJD. On Congress leader Ajaya Kumar’s allegation of BJP- BJD bonhomie and both ED and CBI not conducting any probe into the large scale scams, Samal said “ We do not need a certificate from Congress". He said we have formed governments in three states without ED and CBI and will form the government in Odisha too as the people this time want a double engine government in Odisha under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Soon after the BJP named Union Railway Minister Aswani Vaishnaw as its party candidate for Rajya Sabha seat, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik announced his party’s support to Vaishnaw.
