Rly Minister Vaishnaw reviews ongoing projects in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Feb 15 (Reporter) Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office here to review the progress of various ongoing and proposed railway projects in the region. The meeting was attended by General Manager of South Western Railway (SWR) Arvind Srivastava, General Manager of Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) Chandra Vir Raman, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Ajay Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager (Bengaluru) Amitesh Kumar Sinha, along with senior railway officials and representatives from K-RIDE, Metro, and RLDA. Vaishnaw reviewed the status of several key railway projects, including the proposed Circular Railway Project and Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project. He also assessed the procurement of rolling stock for suburban rail, the doubling of the Baiyyappanahalli–Hosur (48 km) and Yesvantpur–Channasandra (21.7 km) sections, and the progress of Bengaluru Metro Rail projects. Additionally, discussions were held on the proposed Hubballi-Ankola Railway Line and the performance of the Rail Wheel Factory at Yelahanka. The Minister appreciated the cross-section models of crossings developed by K-RIDE. The redevelopment of KSR Bengaluru Station, a project aimed at significantly improving infrastructure and commuter facilities, was also reviewed. He stressed the need to expedite these projects to ensure their timely completion and operational efficiency, highlighting their importance in decongesting the city’s traffic. Vaishnaw underscored the necessity of planning Railway projects with long-term requirements in mind, ensuring they cater to the growing demands of the region.
