Chennai, Dec 15 (Reporter) The ruling DMK's dream of winning 200 seats in 2026 Assembly polls
will not materialise, AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi
K Palaniswami said on Sunday.
Addressing the party's Executive and General Council meeting here, he came down heavy
on the DMK regime alleging that it was acting a drama on seeking exemption of NEET for
admission to UG MBBS courses.
Accusing the DMK government of not properly handling the recent floods in several districts
due to Cyclone Fengal, he also said it did not fulfill the promises made during the 2021 Assembly elections, when it came back to power after a gap of ten years with a thumping majority.
Alleging that the law and order situation in the state had deteriorated and drug menace was
rampant, he said the DMK was claiming that it would win more than 200 seats in the 2026
Assembly elections.
"It will not happen", Mr Palaniswami said, adding, the AIADMK would form a grand alliance
living up to the expectations of the people and return to power in 2026.
Several resolutions were adopted at the meeting, including one to strive hard to bring back
AIADMK to power in 2026 and make Mr Palaniswami as the Chief Minister again.
The AIADMK, which had severed its ties with the BJP and had walked out of the NDA and
vowed not to ally with the saffron party in future, also adopted resolutions criticising the centre
and demanded financial devolution from the central pool without any discrimination, reverting
education back to the State List from the Concurrent list through a Constitutional amendment,
criticising the alleged Hindi imposition by framing the Legislations in Parliament, declaring
famous Tamil couplet 'Thirukkural', authored by Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar, as a National
treasure, cancellation of the Tungsten mining in Madurai district awarded to Hindustan ZSinc,
and making Tamil as the official languages in courts were also adopted at the meeting...////...
